It may be the case that you’ve never even heard of Malta! If you haven’t, here are a few facts:
- Malta’s a small island located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea with an area of just 316km2
- The national languages are both Maltese and English
- The Maltese love food and socialising!
- Malta is part of the EU
Here are a few reasons why you should highly consider moving to Malta.
Good quality of life
Through joining the EU, the islands have seen huge advancements in commercial standards, business and quality of life. Therefore, living standards in Malta are very comparable to those of mainland Europe. This includes the cost of living, freedom, health, safety and climate!
Speaking of safety, Malta has one of the lowest violent crime rates in the EU.
It’s history and culture
The Maltese archipelago was the home to one of the oldest recorded civilisations in the Mediterranean, dating back to c. 5000 years B.C. The islands have been ruled by a variety of cultures including The Romans, Arabs, Knights of St John, French and British. Therefore, it’s clear to see where the Maltese get their unique identity, including the Maltese language.
The best part is the fact that you can explore 7,000 years of history all whilst living in the present, modern world.
The perfect weather
The Maltese climate is typical of the Mediterranean. With 300 days of sunshine per year, it’s often sunny with an average of 5-6 hours of sunshine per day in mid-Winter and more than 12 hours in summer. Temperatures in summer can average between 30-35 degrees and 40-45 during severe heatwaves-so remember to bring sunblock!
The winters in Malta are mild but can be damp and rainy with an occasionally chilly period. Temperatures in February can range from 10-16 degrees.
With a high standard of living, 300 days of sunshine, and the sea within a 10-minute radius, there are plenty of reasons as to why you should consider Malta to be your go-to destination!
